Tyler King was born & raised in East Gainesville off the banks of Newnan's Lake.

His interests in all things cannabis emerged in seventh grade when he did his science fair project at Fort Clarke Middle School on the possible medical benefits of cannabis use. He was reprimanded for the supposedly controversial content, but he also received an A.
Fast forward to the year 2010, King moved to California to legally pursue his passion & further his knowledge of the subject. While successfully owning and operating a dispensary and delivery service with over 300 patients in northern Cali, King got wind that full legalization was coming to his home state via a 2014 popular vote, which wound up falling less than 3% short of the 60% needed to pass.

A low THC strain named Charlotte’s Web was legalized, however, and opened the door for legal CBD sales statewide. King & his family moved back home to join the movement, & two years later, in 2016, an amendment legalizing medicinal cannabis use was passed with a record setting 70% of voters support.

It was under this newly progressive mindset that Swamp City was born. King saw the need for a family friendly, community oriented environment where people could speak openly about their love for cannabis and receive education about the emerging legal industry.
After almost 2 years of curating events & growing the brand, King opened Swamp City Gallery Lounge in beautiful & historic downtown Gainesville Florida. A new type of lifestyle lounge was born, comprised of several separate gallery spaces, a unique beer & wine bar, & a large courtyard which hosts a diverse assortment of art & music.

Swamp City is much more than that, however… A humble dream has now blossomed into a cannabis and lifestyle hub that Tyler himself could never have imagined!

In the first year alone, the venue & team have hosted educational & cannabis industry events, exciting live bands, djs, & artists from all over the country, massively popular live glass blowing demos, birthdays, baby showers, film premiers, and so much more!
